* More about CSA Cement
Production of CSA cement generates 78% less CO2 emmisions from the overall production of ordinary portland cement. Concrete made with 100% CSA has two to six times less environmental impact than concrete made with a significant quantity of portland cement replaced with pozzolans and that includes "green" pozzolans such as fly ash and slag.
In fact, CSA cements had the lowest carbon emissions out of nine alternative cements, including magnesia (sorel cements), sodium metasilicate (water glass) and calcium aluminate cements.
The other primary advantage to using CSA cements is that concrete made with CSA cement instead of portland cement acheive compressive strenghts of in excess of 10000psi in 24 hours. With CSA's, it's possible to acheive 28 day strenght in 24hours.
While the rapid strengh gain and high "green" value are valubale assets, such high performance does come at a price which include the cost of CSA compared to portland cement and the addition labor require to work with rapid curing cements.
